56 Murders Today -- 12 More than Normal

So with the media giddy with excitement about another mass murder at Newtown, I thought I'd focus on the less visible, but much larger massacre that happens every day in the U.S.
According to the CDC an average of 44 people are murdered in the U.S. every day with no fanfare, no solemn words from presidential candidates, no soul searching, no flags at half mast and no political posturing from opportunistic politicians and pundits.

So today, in addition to offering my condolences to the families of the 12 murder victims in Colorado, I'd like to offer the same for the approximately 44 other families who suffered the same senseless loss of a loved one today.
